Last night Peplows were one of the sponsors of the FDD (Food Drink Devon) awards at the High Bullen Hotel which displayed the best Devon has to offer regarding food and drink. The evening was hosted by Nigel Barden and was enjoyed by everyone. The food and drink was top quality, even for a food and drinks event standards, and it was interesting to be able to put a name and face to the producers of all products that were consumed throughout the night.

Each course had multiple options ranging from duck and prosciutto ham roulade to sloe gin and crème fraiche ice cream. The hosts did an excellent job with up to 200 people in attendance. Notably, they managed to get more wine to our table very quickly!

More importantly than the food (arguably) were the awards themselves. One of our directors Mike even got to present some of the awards for the categories we sponsored (right). Four products managed to receive the platinum award, this means that overall the product was rated 100%! Gold and silver rewards were also given out for 90%-99% and 85% to 89% respectively. There were 39 products that achieved silver and 49 that achieved gold further highlighting how exceptional the platinum products are. The four platinum products were 'Chocolate heaven made in Devon' for their truffle, 'Figgy's puddings' for their Christmas pudding, 'Foxcombe bakehouse' for their gluten free chocolate orange crunchie and 'Sharpham wines and cheese' for their Cremet.

One of the gold awards was awarded to Littlestone Coffee who Peplows were sat with. They are an ethical local coffee producer based in Exeter and an excellent up and coming business whose coffee we could almost definitely take advantage of in our offices! Another winner on Peplows table was Devon's best fine dining restaurant, the Salutation Inn in Topsham; an amazing restaurant that provides an experience on a plate rather than just a meal. Congratulations to them both and all the other nominees, we thank you for providing us Devonshire lot with superb food and drink to enjoy no matter what the occasion.

Thank you also to Food Drink Devon for a wonderful evening, we look forward to seeing if the food and drink can get any better next year!?
