Reliability Is key; For Accountants and For Cars Which Are Nearly 40 Years Old!

Peplows is proud to support any worthy cause and this is definitely one of them! The Round Britain Reliability Run is a gruelling challenge for everyone involved, but with £600,000 raised over the last 14 bi-annual events it is very worthwhile. Peplows have sponsored Rob Lingard from Saunders and Lingard who is taking part in the race with his beautiful Triumph Spitfire 1500 (shown below) whereby drivers cover over 2000 miles in under 48 hours from private roads next to Loch Ness, windy roads in the Welsh valleys and beautiful B-roads near Lands End.

The event starts near Hertfordshire and has 3 stages; London to John O'Groats, John O'Groats to Lands End and finally Lands End to London. The cars will always have a minimum of 2 drivers as at 3 hour intervals they have to swap in order for them to get a rest. After all, there are no overnight stops in this race but instead checkpoints dotted around the route on all 3 stages to track the progress of each spectacular car taking part. This year the aim of the event is to raise over £50,000 for Epilepsy Research UK which with the help of Peplows will have a massive positive impact on many peoples' livelihood.

Although the drive appears to be competitive, it is not officially a race. Cars are not timed and there are no tangible rewards for finishing apart from a souvenir for each individual taking part. The reliability run occurs in England, Scotland and Wales with the majority of roads being A-roads giving the crews a significantly more pleasurable drive than being sat on motorways for 48 hours. We wish Rob and his team the best of luck as we sponsor him again, and hope that he doesn't scratch the front wing as our logo matches the car's colour charmingly.
