In a somewhat unconventional move within the professional services industry, Peplows Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers has appointed professional marketer, Tina Calvert, as a new equity director.

Tina, a Chartered Marketer and member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, has been with the firm for over 20 years. The move reflects the considerable changes taking place in the industry and the determination of the firm to best position itself to be at the forefront of this transformation.

As Debbie Franklin, Director of Tax at Peplows explains, “The skillsets needed to drive and achieve success in the accountancy industry and continue to meet the needs of clients is changing. As Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers, our expertise in these areas is proven. Clients increasingly require support that goes far beyond the core remit of accountancy. More than ever, we need people with the ability to identify, anticipate and understand clients' needs and the communication and change skills to ensure these are met. This is where the skills of a marketer can add great value”.

Tina responded, “The future requires innovation and flexibility. Our highly skilled and qualified directors and staff are accomplished at providing accounts, tax and business advice. Being agile and responding to a changing environment is now paramount, clearly demonstrated by the raft of grants, loans, schemes and reliefs introduced recently in response to COVID-19.”

Whilst digitalisation is having a huge impact on the accountancy industry and the range of services offered by some firms is expanding, Tina asserts that there is one constant, key criteria. “Communication. It's essential that clients never feel abandoned and that they can reach a human being when they need to. We are adapting in response to the disruption in our industry and I am excited and honoured to be a part of the team driving this change.”
