HMRC launches new campaign aimed at those with cryptoassets

HMRC is calling on those with cryptoassets, including exchange tokens, NFTs and utility tokens, to make a voluntary disclosure of any unpaid tax.

HMRC is calling on those with cryptoassets, including exchange tokens, NFTs and utility tokens, to make a voluntary disclosure of any unpaid tax.

The campaign launched on 29 November aims to tackle crypto tax avoidance and is the first time HMRC has launch a specific disclosure for those with cryptoassets.

People with these types of assets may not be aware of the tax implications of their investments. Crypto investors are being urged to take action now as HMRC will soon start to receive information automatically about individuals’ trading activities.
